Understory at The Spheres is an exhibit space hosting Amazon’s Artist in Residence program. Local artists engage with the community through workshops and exhibitions.
Located on the ground floor Understory is open to the public from Tuesday through Saturday, 10am to 6pm PT.

Amazon Rainforest

Several meters below the canopy lies the understory. The understory varies significantly between different rainforests: the lush, tropical understory of the Amazon Rainforest contrasts sharply with the temperate understory found in the Pacific Northwest Rainforest, each offering a unique and diverse habitat.

The understory is like the cozy, dimly-lit basement of the Rainforest, where young trees, shrubs, and sneaky animals hide out, away from the bustling party happening up in the canopy. It’s the cool, calm layer where sunlight is scarce, but life is abundant and full of secrets!
